On March 21, a decision was announced by the Nottingham Board of Supervisors meeting regarding who will be the company to construct the new expansion facility.

A total of 14 construction company bidders submitted their applications to build a road salt barn and add more garage space to the old building. The winner was Pitttsburgh Streets Run Road based company, Golon, Inc. The $800,000 low bid had competed with the highest one, $1,340,000. Construction of the project will begin in the summer.

The township had secured a loan earlier this year in the form of a general obligation note from Washington Financial not to exceed $580,000 to help finance the public works project. The action is pursuant to the Local Government Unit Debt Act, and details have been spelled out in a proposed ordinance (number 109) to be enacted after the supervisors selected the building project bid. The loan proposal from Washington Financial was accepted by the supervisors at their December 15 meeting.

In other news at the Nottingham Board of Supervisors March 21 meeting:
• The board announced that a news release from Sunoco Logistics revealed that Mariner East1, the first pipeline in their system, is now transporting both ethane and propane across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Sunoco is also constructing a natural gas liquids pipeline from Houston, PA to Butler, PA and further that goes west to east through the middle of the township. Construction of that project has slowed considerably in the last year due to low oil and gas prices.
• Acknowledged receipt of communication from Emily Bloom, director of Peters Township Meals on Wheels confirming participation in their annual “March for Meals” program before the Easter holiday.
• Acknowledged receipt from EQT giving notification of their intent to apply for a new drilling permit on well name, Kevech in Fallowfield Township.
• Announced that the bridge-widening project over Peters Creek on Rankintown-Venetia Road in Union Township will begin around April 1.
