Scott Bracker obtained the rank of Eagle Scout and was recognized at the April 11th meeting.

The meeting began with the recognition of Scott F. Bracker earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Bracker has been a scout since first grade and has earned 37 merit badges. He has been a leader, a mentor and an instructor.

The achievement that led Bracker to the rank of Eagle Scout was his help in the renovation of the playground at the Windover Hills United Methodist Church.

Edward Snee of the Board of Supervisors proclaimed Bracker an Eagle Scout and stated, “Scott F. Bracker is to be commended for displaying great fortitude and personal conviction in reaching his attended goal, and now therefore, be it proclaimed, the Board of Supervisors honor Scott F. Bracker for deservedly being awarded the rank of Eagle Scout due to his strength and resolution of spirit, proclaimed this 11th day of April, 2016.”

The Township of South Park was also recognized; their recognition was for being a “banner community” for the third year in a row. They were given a letter, which Supervisor David Buchewicz read aloud. The letter stated that the elected and appointed officials of the Township of South Park have had proper training, have good community involvement, maintain routine communication with South Park residents and “serve as a good example to others on how to govern in a responsible manor.”

Buchewicz continued, reading the end of the letter: “Thank you for all that you have done for the residents of your municipality and for making your community a better place to live, presented on the 5th day of April, 2016, Rich Fitzgerald, County Executive.”

The Board then transitioned into the second half of the meeting and discussed the following topics.

The Township hired another part-time employee for the summer recreation program.

Darla Dietz, an employee of the South Park Township Library, will be retiring from her position as full-time clerk, effective date being Thursday, June 30, 2016.

The Board authorized the attendance of David Buchewicz at the National Association of Towns and Townships, which was held in Washington D.C. from April 27-28.

Several training requests were approved for several police officers of South Park. The trainings to be attended are: “Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program Training,” Heroin Epidemic and Investigative Techniques,” “Public Safety Training Seminar,” and “Valor Officer Safety Conference.”
