The First United Methodist Church, located at 200 State St., Belle Vernon, celebrated Christmas with their annual ‘Breakfast with Santa’ event, held free for the community on Sat., Dec. 15, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am.

Olivia Granato, age 10, visits with Santa, asking for a “surprise” for Christmas.

The event featured a delicious pancakes and sausage meal and a visit with Santa for the children.

Many church volunteers were kept busy preparing meals for people of all ages in attendance from throughout the Mon Valley area. Chairperson Wendy Kennedy says that the church has been holding this outreach for several years. “It is just something they wanted to do for the kids,” she said.

On this warm rainy day inside the church hall, children gave Santa their Christmas wishlist and received a gift from him, too. All who attended seemed to enjoy the breakfast and holiday cheer.
