The Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Parish held a two-day festival on August 2nd and 3rd at 44 Pennsylvania Blvd., Monessen. Both days were eventful and drew diverse crowds, despite the rain on Saturday.

Brother Jeep played music for the people at the Epiphany Festival on August 2. Their music won over the noisy crowd.

In charge of the festival was Epiphany of Our Lord Rev. Michael Crookston, who said, "One of the big things here in Monessen is the ethnicity, so it's the ethnic foods that the people truly enjoy at the festival."

On Saturday, the event took place during the evening, from 5 -10 p.m. Outside food meant a long line and a large list of vendors, featuring hot dogs, hamburgers, funnel cakes, sausage sandwiches, and more. A variety of games and a Chinese auction were available to play. From 6 - 10 p.m., a band called Brother Jeep provided musical entertainment, playing toe-tapping rhythm and blues music. Later, while it rained, they moved indoors where people danced and enjoyed themselves.

On Sunday, the day went from 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. Inside food included delicious pierogies, stuffed cabbage, haluski, and a bake sale. The Dynasonics, a polka band, performed indoors from 3 - 6 p.m. There were also games and festivities in which to participate.

The annual festival is one to look forward to all summer. It just makes the summer livelier. Epiphany of Our Lord is located on 618 Knox Ave., Monessen. Mass times are Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
