The First Presbyterian Church in Belle Vernon held a market and clothing outreach from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, September 4th and 5th, 2015. The church is located at 501 Fayette St., Belle Vernon. The event is held every year on Labor Day weekend.

The proceeds are to be used to fund the work of the church and for mission projects. The event was sponsored by the Mission Committee of the Church. Linda Aten is president of the committee; however, Lucille Rapchak, church member, said, “We’re very fortunate this church has a lot of hard-working, faithful people. The work was a community effort.”

Dick Currie, president of the Men’s Association, and the other men handled the work outside with the larger items. Inside was a garage sale, featuring knick-knacks, Christmas decorations and gifts. There was also food for a very reasonable price.

The clothes drive was headed up by Eileen Kunca, with many articles of nice clothing available for free. It was there for the taking.
Pastor of First Presbyterian Church is Suzanne Currie, who has been in this role for 9 ½ years.

The annual event was said to be held for more years than they could count and is great for the community—good buys, good fellowship, and a great clothing drive.
