On Saturday, September 19, there was a crisp smell of apple in the autumn air thanks to Greenock U.M. Church, located on Greenock-Buena Vista Road in Elizabeth Township. This is the third annual year they hosted this event, and they say it will not be their last.

The church provided activities for all ages to last throughout the day, such as bouncy house, preschool story time, face painting, and crafts for the kids. For the adults, there was an all-genre guitarist, Rubbie Greenwald, a local of Greenock for many generations; West Virginia dulcimer act Waltz "n" All; raffles; 50/50; and craft vendors. There was even a photographer, Erin McCay from Memories by McCay, to take a fall picture for a fee.

Families could enjoy all kinds of food from Wayne's BBQ, jumbo pretzels, specialty apples such as Idared, Pippy, and others. The church's famous Macintosh apple dumplings were for sale, although patrons had to act fast, as they sold out within an hour. The recipe has been a hit for the last 30+ years and has a reputation within the community as the "best apple dumplings around."

Pastor Ed Pope, Cindy Obley, and Darla Matuschek, along with many others, host this annual event to raise money for various church-related purposes, such as outreach, missionary, and to help off offset the cost of their kitchen renovations. They brought in more than $4,000 last year and hope to break that record this year, though funds haven’t been tallied yet. Each year the number of people who attend this event increases.
