Community members and local businesses are teaming up to bring a well-deserved aesthetic makeover to Peters Creek Baptist Church in South Park, PA.

David Richie Jr. — owner of D.L. Richie Paint ’n Decorating Center based in Bethel Park — and his team will volunteer their time, while the PPG Pittsburgh Paints ® brand will donate the paint and materials to the project.

As part of the PPG Pittsburgh Paints brand’s PAINT FOR A CHANGE™ community outreach initiative, members of D.L. Richie Paint ’n Decorating Center will be on-site at the church to revive interior areas with a fresh coat of paint on Oct. 2 and 3. They’ll join nearly 25 other church and community volunteers to repaint hallways, bathrooms and a multi-purpose room that is used as a classroom for various children’s programs.

“My father, David Richie Sr., founded D.L. Richie Paint ’n Decorating Center in 1963, and we’ve been an independent, family-owned and operated business in the Pittsburgh area for more than 50 years,” said David Richie Jr. “Our family has also been long-time members of Peters Creek, so helping out at the church is an especially important, meaningful project to us.”

Peters Creek Baptist Church was established in 1773 and has more than 1,000 active attendees presently. Pastor Greg Adkins joined the church in 1995 and has served as a pastor there for 20 years.

“The oldest building on our current campus was built during the 1930s with our sanctuary completed in 1966, so the buildings contain a lot of history,” Adkins said. “While we’ve made many updates over the years, we’re so grateful to David Richie and his team for volunteering their time and expertise, as well as PPG’s generous donation, which will help to fundamentally improve the aesthetic environment at our church.”
