The first-ever GOLD (Girls Only Leadership Development) Night, held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Pleasant Hills Middle School was a huge success with many shining moments!

Gold
Gold Night at Pleasant Hills Middle School

Led by Melissa McCauley and an all-female team of volunteers and instructors, the program provided fun and educational sessions on fashion tips for teens, yoga, self-defense, kickboxing, how to navigate friendships, stress and anxiety reduction, what is appropriate for social media, lessons on body image and self-esteem, team building and healthy snacks. All of the sessions were designed to foster positive relationships, build confidence and boost self-esteem among girls.

Each girl received a drawstring bag and t-shirt with the event’s tagline of “We Shine like Gold” as they entered the building. The program opened with all of the girls dancing to Demi Lovato’s “What’s Wrong with Being Confident?” to get everyone pumped up before heading to their breakout sessions. The girls enjoyed pizza and cookies at the end of the night and had the opportunity to win special prizes and gift cards.

It was truly an inspiring evening of friendship, encouragement and unity. Huge thanks go out to Mrs. McCauley and her amazing team at PHMS, all of the instructors, volunteers, attendees and everyone who supported this amazing event!
