Ms. Megan Van Fossan has already been visiting spring musicals, concerts and programs around the district as she transitions into her new position as Superintendent of Ringgold School District.

Not just visiting, but taking time to survey students and staff. Spend any amount of time with Van Fossan and you will know she is all about our kids.

That can sound so cliché these days, but Van Fossan is truly about seeing the entire picture, “filter free.” Her intent is that along with current surveys and existing district data analysis, Ringgold can truly focus on building a district where everyone matters. Van Fossan “recognizes that not every decision needs the same lens,” be that in regards to students, administration, or family.

With high expectations and accountability, children in our district will become “expert learners,” in classrooms designed for student variability. In addition, our teachers will have “a menu of learning opportunities to support variability teaching (acknowledging every child learns differently) and new best practices.” Clearly Megan Van Fossan is bringing her best and expects just as much for Ringgold.

Megan Van Fossan has been involved in education for over 25 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in special education from The Ohio State University. Van Fossan earned a Master’s Degree in educational leadership from George Mason University and a Master’s Degree in secondary education from The University of Alabama. Van Fossan has her Certificate in Advanced Education Leadership from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, her Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from Edinboro University and has attended five professional development programs at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education including the Institute on Universal Design for Learning.

Van Fossan was named Superintendent of Ringgold School District in April of 2018 and will be full-time on July 1, 2018. Before her position at Ringgold, she worked at McGuffey School District in Claysville, PA where she held the position of Director of Special Services for 14 years.
