School News

Six students from Peters Township High School have been named semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the annual National Merit Scholarship program. These students are among an elite group of 16,000 students from across the nation to earn this honor.

Seniors Matthew Gummersbach, Daniel Krajovic, Mary Kate Pritz, Nicholas Roberts, Roy Wang and Delaney Wehn will now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $33 million, that will be offered next spring. Merit Scholar designees are selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

Students enter the National Merit Scholarship program by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) which serves as the initial screening. The semifinalists, representing less than 1% of high school seniors, are the highest scoring entrants in the state.
