On Thursday, January 28, Elizabeth Forward Middle School had their annual spelling bee tournament. After months of practicing 450 Scribbs-official spelling words, it was time to put it to the test.

Mrs. Stannich with 3rd place winner Noah Madden, winner Hannah Rhodes, 2nd place winner Elsie Carter, and Mrs. Sarbar.

There were nine participants ranging from 6th grade to 8th grade. After 10 rounds, the winner of the bee was Hannah Rhodes, who won with the word "nitty-gritty." She will move onto the next level of the spelling bee by participating in the Robert Morris University Spelling Bee.

Congratulations, Hannah, and congratulations to second place winner Elsie Carter and third place winner Noah Madden.

The other contestants were Lindsey Taylor, Nikki Dreistadt, Leah Weimerskirch, Athena Koutsouliou, Victoria Lang, and Josie Stoffer.

Thanks are also extended to Mrs. Sarbar, the teacher in charge of the spelling bee, Mrs. Stannich, the assistant principal and judge of the spelling bee, and Mrs. Kearns, the pronouncer of the spelling bee.
