Clairton City School District has been named as a Best Community for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation. A total of ten districts in Allegheny County were recognized. CCSD is among 63 districts in Pennsylvania and 476 nationwide to earn the distinction for 2016.

According to the foundation, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students. Districts are evaluated on a variety of factors, including funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs.

“We are very proud of the music program in Clairton City,” said Dr. Ginny Hunt, Superintendent of Schools.

Mr. Kevin Danchik (elementary music director) and Mr. David Geckle (middle/high school music director) both agree that the award recognizes the commitment of school administrators, teachers, parents and school board members.
