Seniors

West Newton Center for Active Adults, 103 E. Main St., in West Newton, can be reached at 724-872-4976. The manager is Jody Geletko.

We are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Call to receive our monthly email, then decide what days you would join us for lunch. Lunch reservations are due one week before each Tuesday.

The center has a full beauty shop, Tuesday through Friday. Phone and ask for Judy. Daily card playing, pool, Wii bowling, card bingo at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, monthly grocery bingo, and speakers are part of what we offer regularly.

Below is our schedule of events for September:

• September 1 - Open house – all can attend, luncheon, and music by Liz and Duke. Appetizers, drawings, and baskets included.

• September 8 and 9 – Bingo - we will be sponsoring bingo inside the gym during the WN Community Festival.

• September 21 - Coffee and Canvas - 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. with Mr. & Mrs. Crawford, artists, to help you. $20 for all supplies.

• September 11 and Sept 28 - Lunch and Casino - Lunch at the center at 11:30 a.m. Donation made for lunch at center - $10. Lady Luck Casino with $20 free play to follow in a 14-passenger van. Call and make your reservations. $10 returned to you by the casino as a gift card.

• September 20 - Wheeling Casino - Lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the center. At 12:30 p.m. the bus will depart from the fireman's lot, Riverside Dr. Cost: $25. Cash held for people coming for lunch. To RSVP, call 724-872-4976. $25 free play from casino.

• September 26 - Blackburn Center Speaker - 12:30 p.m. The topic is exploitation of seniors.
