The Monessen Advisory Council, which plans activities for the Monessen Senior Center (Center for Active Adults) really outdid themselves for the evening of March 31 at 5 p.m.

This was the setting for dinner and music at the center on Grand Blvd., with catered food from Felicia’s restaurant of Monessen and a show from G Boyz. The all-inclusive activity was only $12 and benefits the Monessen Senior Center.

Regional Manager Lou Ann Petronick hopes this was a great event for area seniors. She said, “We have to continue to reach out and show that there are other things to do in the community.”

The Italian-themed dinner and music event began with a delicious meal of salad, biscotti, spaghetti and meatballs, and cake from the Gingerbread House in West Newton. There were chances sold to win a gift basket or a cash prize; plus, a door prize was given out.

The entertainment – G Boyz – was Georgeo and Gary from Irwin. They called themselves tribute artists and explained, “We don’t try to imitate anybody. If we sound like anybody, that’s just a bonus.” They performed music from the ‘40s, ‘50s, and ‘60s, including classics such as Elvis and Sinatra, and were interactive with the audience. They sang and danced with the people, even singing to individual people, making them feel special.

G Boyz also had the crowd laughing during the couple of hours they were there, as they joked and had a real rapport with everyone. They concluded the night with a gospel-type song, “I Believe.” Gary said, “In our show, we like to spread a little love,” and they sure did.
