On Saturday November 5, 2016, the Mon Valley United F.C. Club honored Joe Anders for his contributions to local soccer in the Mon Valley.

Joe Anders holds his tribute ball, signed by 78 players and alumni in attendance.

Joe was the founder of the Belle Vernon High School team and coached them for 18 successful seasons. Coach Anders also had significant into local youth, sandlot, and officiating programs.

MVU and Seneca Valley played a tribute match at Belle Vernon Stadium with a touching pre-game ceremony, featuring many of his former players. Joe did the Walk of Fame with both teams and former players forming a reception line extending from the sidelines to the center circle.

Tribute speeches were delivered by MVU-FC founders John and Greg Pastor, along with former players and district coaches Dave King and Dan Weight paying additional homage and tribute to former MVU players who recently passed away this year. These included former Belle Vernon Head Coach Paul Sasko and Former Charleroi Head Coach George Watkins.

A special tribute ball signed by players and alumni in attendance (78 signees) was given to Joe along with gifts at the end of the ceremony.
