Not all kids have the opportunity to participate in athletics because their families simply can’t afford it, but the Make You Think Athletic Association (MYTAA) helps change that.

MYTAA is a new organization that began in May of this year and its goal is to give underprivileged kids a chance to play sports, with no money having to be paid by the parents.

“We don’t take any money from the parents or the community,” stated one of the founders of the organization, Harry Wynkoop.

Currently, 35 kids are participating in the program and there are four baseball teams under MYTAA. There is one team for ages 7 and 8, two teams for ages 9 and 10 and one for ages 11 and 12. The age groups go up to age 14, but no one of that age group has joined as of yet.

MYTAA is also raising money for a boy by the name of Kevin Kenny, who is paralyzed from the neck down. Every time one of the teams scores a run, sponsors donate money to Kevin and his family.

Wynkoop emphasized that MYTAA is all about giving the underprivileged a chance, helping them by means of the educational programs the organization has, and teaching them teamwork. “We don’t want any child left out,” Wynkoop said.
