The haunted Hobgoblin Hikes are just around the corner! The only free events of their kind in our area, these haunted walks are sponsored by Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation. The Hobgoblin Hikes alternate between four regional parks every year; in 2021, Hobgoblin Hikes will be offered only at Cedar Creek Park on Saturday, October 16, and at Twin Lakes Park on Saturday, October 23. Hikes run continuously from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will only be cancelled due to dangerous and severe weather.

The West Newton Library will hold their final fundraiser, ‘Fill A Bag for $5’ Book Sale, on October 22 and 23 outside in the parking lot at 124 N. Water Street in West Newton, Pa.  This event is being held from 8:00am to 2:00pm. 

The library has purchased a large storage container and it is filled with the donations they have received since their last sale, plus they will be acquiring books from the Norwin Library to make this a truly large sale!

The Joyful Bloomers Garden Club held their monthly meeting on September 8 at a pavilion near Lake Emily in Renziehausen Park in McKeesport.  Sally Buchleitner gave a report on the crow and Andrea Rice gave an interesting report on butterflies. Ruth Carroll and Betty Lucot attended the first meeting of the District VII 2023 GCFP Convention to be held at the Double Tree in Monroeville.  Our club will be responsible for Ways and Means.
