On June 25, it was a festive evening in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center as Monongahela Valley Hospital’s leadership and staff honored the members of the Auxiliary of Mon-Vale Health Resources, Inc.

Louis J. Panza Jr, president and CEO of Monongahela Valley Hospital accepts a check from Kay Blair, president, Auxiliary of Mon-Vale Health Resources Inc., during the 2018 Auxiliary Appreciation Dinner.

“I know it gets harder and harder each year to keep pace with rising expenses,” said MVH President and CEO Louis J. Panza Jr. “I also know that the time you all give to us either in the Gift Shop, by making crafts to brighten the days of our patients or working at the festivals is a labor of love for you. You don’t do it asking for anything in return — you do it from the bottom of your hearts.”

During the event, Auxiliary President Kay Blair presented a check to Mr. Panza totaling $38,000. When combined with the funds that the Auxiliary donated to the hospital for its annual Gala in May and the Volunteen Scholarship, the Auxiliary’s 2018 donation totaled $39,500. According to Mr. Panza, the funds will be used for a new power exam table for oncology patients; a dialysis chair, patient recliners and commode chairs for our 5-East rehabilitation patients; a prime bed for the Emergency Department; and new furniture for our Behavioral Health Unit. This year’s gift brings the Auxiliary’s total donation to the hospital to approximately $3,463,000 during the past 40 years.

The evening concluded when a new slate of officers was elected. While Kay Blair will serve a second term as the organization’s president, Auxilians newly elected to leadership roles for 2018-19 include: Maureen Lusk, vice president; Audrey Blangger, treasurer; Ruthann Dulovich, assistant treasurer; and Sherry Cramer, recording treasurer. In addition, four Auxilians were re-elected to the offices they previously held including Marge Pennline, finance officer; Georgetta Wiles, assistant finance officer; Mary Lou Mudrick, recording secretary and Dolly Gaudio, corresponding secretary.
