The Rostraver Public Library announces the following August Events:
It's books, books, books at the Rostraver Public Library in August. First up, the library will host a One Book, One Community discussion of the Gary M. Pomerantz book, "Their Life's Work: the Brotherhood of the 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers" on Thursday, August 4 at 7 p.m. The discussion is a program of the Westmoreland Library Network and is free and open to the public.
The library is currently forming an evening book discussion group. The first meeting will be Monday, September 19 but reservations for copy of "The Nineteenth Wife" by David Ebershoff. The book melds a historical elements with a modern murder mystery. Copies of the book will be available for loan in mid-month. To reserve a copy, call the library at 724-379-5511.
The afternoon book club meets each month on the second Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. This month's book is "Sycamore Road" by John Grisham.
The library is also seeking tweens and teens interested in forming a manga and anime group. Those interested will be invited to an anime screening of "Summer Wars" on August 13. Please call the library or stop by the circulation desk for details.
The library is holding a "Back-to-School" movie and pizza day on Monday, August 22 at 11 a.m. The PG feature is "Zootopia" and registration is required by calling the library.
The knitters meet every Tuesday. The first and third Tuesday of the month the meeting is held at 1 p.m. and the second and fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m.
