The public is invited to a multi-media presentation entitled “Cowboy Culture” on Sunday, June 10 at the Donora Public Library.

The presentation discusses changing social values reflected in western fiction and western fictional characters, with particular emphasis on Dr. Dave Lonich’s latest book, Steel Town Shootout. A book signing and discussion follows the presentation, which will be held from 1 until 3 p.m.

Steel Town Shootout, the sequel to Lonich’s Steel Town Showdown, is set in 1908 and incorporates many of the historic, social, ethnic, economic, religious and political aspects of life in a typical western Pennsylvania steel town like Donora.

Joining Lonich for the book signing will be book illustrator Slaid Black. Black also provided the illustrations for previous books by the Donora native including Frost Moon Rising and Thunder Moon Trail. First time author and illustrator, Peyton Michaels will also attend and sign copies of The Cookie Moon.

There is no admission charge to the event, but attendees making a donation to the Donora Public Library’s expansion fund will receive a free copy of Steel Town Shootout. Refreshments and door prizes will also be available.

The presentation and book signing is part of the library's Speaker Series, sponsored by the Board of Directors of Donora Public Library. The library is located at 510 Meldon Avenue, Donora.
