The Baldwin Borough Public Library is pleased to announce it is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Library’s Board of Trustees. Library trustees are volunteer community representatives, library advocates, and leaders in the establishment of goals and policies for the Baldwin Borough Public Library.
Trustees are expected to attend monthly board meetings and committee meetings. Board meetings are held at 7 pm on the third Thursday of each month at the library. The meetings are open to the public.
Trustees are expected to articulate the library’s needs to the community and funders, seek funding for current programs and new initiatives, and to generally help promote the library.
Ideal candidates will have an interest in and passion for public libraries and an understanding of the importance of the public library as a center of information, discovery, enrichment and life-long learning in the community.

Bouncing Babies and Books – Tuesday, Sept. 1 @ 10:30 a.m.
This storytime, for babies birth-24 months, will include a book, lots of singing, some musical instruments, and a lot of fun for you and your baby! It's a great way to spend time with your little one while meeting new caregivers or meeting up with old friends. No registration required.
Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., year-round (dress up for Halloween is October 27)
London Trip Slide Show – Tuesday, Sept. 8 @ 6:30 p.m.
Come to the library to view a slide show of our upcoming trip to beautiful London, England. Matt D'Eramo, from Collette Vacations, will guide us through our travels and answer any questions you may have about the trip. The dates for this wonderful vacation are April 20 - 26, 2016. No registration required.

Rock that Smock Art Camp – Wednesday, Sept. 16 @ 10:30 a.m.
You asked and we listened! Our wildly popular summer program will continue in the fall! Each week we will feature a highlighted story, a related song, and an art extension activity. Be prepared to get a little messy with a little paint and a lot of creativity! This program is geared to children ages 2-5, but all ages are welcome! Registration required. Fall Family Fun Nights – Wednesday, Sept. 16 @ 6:30 p.m.

Tales for 2s and 3s – Thursday, Sept. 17 @ 10:30 a.m.
A storytime specifically geared for toddlers who are 24-36 months old with a caregiver. We will read great stories, sing a lot of songs, and have plenty of music, movement, and fun! Your toddler will love meeting new storytime buddies! No registration required.

Preschool Alphabet Parade – Friday, Sept. 18 @ 10:30 a.m.
Fun stories, songs, activities, and a craft for children ages 3-5 with a caregiver. We will travel through the alphabet and feature a letter each week. Children are welcome to bring an object to storytime that begins with our weekly featured letter! No registration required.

Beyond the Brush – Saturday, Sept. 19 @ 10 a.m.
Join local Michael’s art and craft instructor Michelle as she shares her love of artistic creativity with the community and brings her talent to the Baldwin Library! Children in grades 6 and up can join Michelle as she introduces a new, exciting project each month and take home a beautiful, unique creation! Registration required. Saturdays at 10 a.m.: September 19 (cord jewelry), October 10 (unique pumpkins), November 7 (handmade book/journal), December 5 (ornament frenzy)
Arm Knitting – Tuesday, Sept. 22 @ 6:30 p.m.
Class is free -- please bring supplies listed. With instructions by Emily Klaczac, learn how to make a lacy, sparkly cowl -- or a warm, winter one -- using just one or two skeins of yarn and your own two arms! Registration required. Supplies: Lacy cowl -- One skein Red Heart Boutique Sashay yarn. Winter cowl -- One skein Lion Brand Quickie or Bernat Mega Bulky; or two skeins Lion Brand Thick and Quick in contrasting colors.

Teen Reader’s Theater – Saturday, Sept. 26 @ 1 p.m.
We are looking for some enthusiastic and dramatic teens (grades 6 and up) to practice and perform How the Grinch Stole Christmas as part of our “Merry Grinchmas” program for families in December. We will hold twice-a-month practices beginning in September, make scenery at the end of November, and perform in December. Memorization is an option but not a requirement. Get your drama on!
