September 1st – 30th – LIBRARY CARD SIGN-UP MONTH – Your free library card is the most important school supply of all.

 September 7th – LABOR DAY – Library closed.

WCCF GIVES!

September 9th, 8 a.m. – 8p.m. – WCCF (Washington County Community Foundation) Gives community-wide day of giving is taking place. Support the John K. Tener Library during this special event.  Any donation of $25 or more made on the Library’s behalf during the event period will be increased by a portion of the WCCF bonus pool.  You have the option of donating online or by check.  Check contributions must be received at the Foundation office by 8 p.m. on GIVES day to be eligible for the match.  Visit the WCCF website www.wccfgives.org for instructions.

BOOK CLUB

September 10th. The selection for this month is:  Alex Marwood’s second novel, “The Killer Next Door,” a psychological thriller.  Pick up your copy at the front desk.  New club members are always welcome; join the discussion at 5:45 p.m. 

“DO YOU KNOW JACK?” Trivia Challenge

September 23rd. Trivia Challenge will begin at 6 p.m.  Light refreshments will be provided.  Put your team together (maximum 6 people); winning team gets $100.  Entry fee $10 is per team member.  Spectator fee is $5.  Pick up your registration form at the Library, or contact a Library Board member, or visit the library’s webpage www.washlibs.org/john-k-tener to download the form.

BANNED BOOK WEEK

September 27th – October 3rd. Celebrate the freedom to read.  Visit the library to check out one of the nearly 100 banned or challenged books from the list compiled by American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom.
