Library News

Fall Storytime at Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center is designed for preschool children and consists of a story and craft each Monday night at 6 p.m. The schedule of topics to be covered is:

• November 9: Native Americans
• November 16: Picture Books
• November 23: Thanksgiving
• There will be no Storytime on Monday, November 2, 2015.

November is “Picture Book Month,” which is an international literacy initiative that celebrates the print picture book in an increasingly digital age. Check out the great collection of picture books in the upstairs Children’s Room.

The Mon Valley Genealogy Forum will meet on Monday, November 16, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center. The group will discuss new sites to research and articles detailing genealogy in the news. The forum is free and open to all. Light refreshments will be served.

A craft class, for young artists aged 6 and over, is meeting at the Library on Mondays, at 5 p.m. Crafts will be created for the Monessen Community Christmas Tree. For further information and to register, stop at the Circulation Desk.

A daytime Storytime program is held at the Library on Wednesday mornings, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for children aged 3 to 7. Old favorites and new stories will be read to the children at each session. The children will be encouraged to explore the many books available in the Children’s Room for their enjoyment.

The Friends of the Library group will meet on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room. Please consider joining this valuable and library-centered group.

Enjoy Books are being sold at the Circulation Desk at a cost of $30. They make great holiday gifts and help the Library! The annual Holiday Boutique will open in mid-November with many reasonably priced items.

The Friends of the Library Holiday Boutique will be tentatively opening on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. The Boutique will feature many reasonably priced holiday gift ideas and be open from 12 to 3 PM, on the days the Library is open for business.

Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2015.
