Peters Creek Historical Society invites the public to an evening aboard the US brig, Niagara, through the eyes of Mr. Edd Hale, a volunteer crew member of the brig.

The Niagara

Mr. Hale’s interest of sailing in tall ships began as a boyhood dream nurtured by 35 years teaching eighth grade history and a curriculum that included the golden age of exploration and sail. He’s convinced had he been born in the 19th century, he would have gone to sea. A visit to the Maritime Museum in Erie to visit the replica flagship brig, US Niagara set him on a course to serve as a volunteer member of its crew. What was it like to sail the sea in 1813 aboard a tall ship and what is like today? Come aboard the brig Niagara with Mr. Hale to find out in an evening of “living history” on Monday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m., Wrights United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia. For more information, call 724-746-3203.
