The event was hosted by Lt. Wayne S. Forsythe of American Legion Post 790 in Smithton, and featured guest speaker Maj. Frank Kostik, Jr., a former resident of Smithton. Kostik is an active-duty Army Major serving in the Military District of Washington as defense counsel in the Army JAG Corps. Kostik attended Yough Senior High School, earned his Bachelor of Arts from Mercyhurst University and his Juris Doctorate from Widener School of Law.

"This was a great opportunity for our veterans and their families to share in conversation, meet other local Veterans and just enjoy the day,” said Robert Prah, Commander of the American Legion in Smithton and also a Veteran of the Iraq War. Prah added "It's amazing to have Veterans of the greatest generation attend our dinner. This is just one way small way our American Legion Family gives back each year."
