Children visiting the Monessen Library on Monday, March 9 at 6:00 pm, took part in fun activities in recognition of ‘National Napping Day’.

The unofficial holiday provides people a reason to take a nap and catch up on the hour of sleep lost due to the prior day’s daylight savings time change.
Marsha Adams, Youth Services Coordinator, read a story book, “The Napping House,” while the children got comfortable as if preparing for a nap. Adams said she always celebrates these quirky holidays when they’re appropriate for children. After children were read the story, they re-enacted the sequence of events using picture blocks.
The Children’s Library was recently the recipient of a few grants to make the youth library even better. Parents are encouraged to bring children to play and learn. Contact the Monessen Library for monthly activities at 724-684-4750 or pick up a children’s calendar of events.
