Author and Historian Dale Saller will be speaking at the Sept. 25 program.

The area of Jefferson Hills known as Large has a fascinating history. From the time of the Whiskey Rebellion until today, Large--named after the family who first owned the area’s land patent--has been a site of business and industry.

The West Jefferson Hills Historical Society is pleased to announce its September program, “Drink a Little Large,” where author and historian Dale Saller will relate intriguing stories about Large. Members of the historical society and the community are invited to attend this free program at 7:00PM on September 25 in the Community Rooms of the Jefferson Hills Borough Building. There they will hear stories of the early settlers of Large; the Large Distillery and the Monongahela Rye Whiskey made there; the Large Hotel, its restaurant, and the celebrity guests who lodged there; the Large Coal Mine and its coal patch; and other engaging tales of this vibrant area of Jefferson Hills. Mr. Saller may even share an account of a mysterious Large Hotel ghost.

All are welcome to attend what promises to be a quite enjoyable and entertaining evening.
