On April 19, the Monongahela Elks Lodge held its award dinner at the lodge.

‘Elk of the Year’ was awarded to Sherrie Garry for her dedicated service to the lodge and as chair of the lodge’s house committee. ‘Officer of the Year’ was awarded to William Marsden’s widow for his work hard work on raising funds for the Elks national foundation. Bill was an honorary life member and past exalted ruler and was the esquire of the lodge at his passing.
Local awards were presented to Carroll Township’s Chief of Police Paul Brant and Monongahela’s Chief of Police Clyde Tempest for their continued work keeping our communities safe and free from drugs.
‘Citizen of the Year’ was presented to Anthony Bottino, Jr. for his work in Monongahela with the Chamber and his leadership in the community.
Elks national foundation grants were presented to the Journey To Grace Food Bank for $500, to the Carroll Township Fire Department for $500, and to the Monongahela area library for $1,500.
The Monongahela Elks Lodge continues to help the community with fundraising, Flag Day and veterans programs, youth activities and leadership. They are located at 444-446 Jackson Street in Monongahela and can be reached at 724-258-5655.
