Mon/Yough Trail Council (MYTC), the oldest institution of its kind in Allegheny County, will mark its 25th anniversary with its annual Yough-n-Roll bike ride, membership appreciation lunch, and the presentation of a plaque on Saturday, June 18, at the Boston Trailhead.

Founded in 1991, MYTC was the first volunteer organization to take on responsibility for a link in the Great Allegheny Passage, the bike trail between Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C.

Registration is underway for the Yough-n-Roll, a fundraiser benefiting MYTC’s mission of maintaining and operating the trail from McKeesport to the Westmoreland County line. Entry forms are available online at http://thebostontrail.com/yough-n-roll/.

Yough-n-Roll, now in its 23rd year, is a 40- or 20-mile bike ride for cyclists of all ages.

Activities the day of the event will begin with sign-in for the 40-mile bike ride from 7-8 a.m. at the Boston Trailhead, followed by registration for the 20-mile ride from 8-9 a.m.

Participants registered by June 6 will receive T-shirts. Riders will receive refreshments along the trail.

Membership appreciation will include lunch at the Boston Trailhead for Yough-n-Roll riders and MYTC members from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A plaque commemorating MYTC’s 25th anniversary will be presented at noon.

To become an MYTC member or for additional information on the Yough-n-Roll and Membership Appreciation Day, visit http://thebostontrail.com.

MYTC is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 corporation formed in 1991 to maintain and promote 15 miles of trail extending south from McKeesport in Allegheny County to the Westmoreland County line.

The public is welcome to attend informative monthly meetings, held at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Greenock Fire Hall, 1002 Greenock Buena Vista Road, McKeesport.
