Dennis Paluso Fills Vacant First Assistant District Attorney Position
Washington County District Attorney Eugene A. Vittone has announced that Deputy District Attorney Dennis R. Paluso, Esquire has filled the vacant first assistant district attorney position in the office.

The first assistant district attorney’s position is statutorily required and is the second most prominent position in the district attorney office. In the event of a vacancy in the position of the district attorney, the county code provides that the first assistant becomes the district attorney position. This vacancy was created by the departure of former first assistant district attorney, Chad Schneider, who left the office earlier this month to accept a position with a Pittsburgh law firm.
“When I learned that we had an opening, it took me all of about five seconds to make the decision to ask Mr. Paluso to fill the first assistant district attorney opening.” District Attorney Vittone stated. “The work that Dennis has done and the accomplishments that he has made on behalf of the office in the year he has been with us as Deputy District Attorney is nothing short of phenomenal. Dennis has earned the respect of the staff, fellow lawyers and the judiciary.”
Mr. Paluso will be responsible for managing the trial list for the office, assisting in major crime prosecutions, and assisting with managerial operations of the office.
Mr. Paluso is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the Syracuse University College of Law. Paluso was an assistant district attorney for several years and from 1995 until 2014 was in private practice with a strong focus on criminal law. Mr. Paluso also served for eight years as juvenile court master, handling criminal juvenile delinquency and dependency matters for the Court of Common Pleas of Washington County. Mr. Paluso was appointed deputy district attorney for Washington County in January 2015. He resides in Charleroi with his wife, Becky, and two children.
