A representative from the Monongahela Area Revitalization Corporation (MARC) in attendance at the July 3 New Eagle Borough Council Meeting asked Council for permission to refurbish the Maple Avenue Ballfield in the borough.

Corina Withrow offered the services of the non-profit volunteer organization to give a needed paint job to the equipment. Council responded favorably and will supply the paint for the project that will include the dugout building, concession stand, and fence. The agreement is contingent on the determination of borough insurance covering the volunteers.

In other business, Council heard from resident, John Sala, who spoke as a representative of his neighbors and himself about an issue with Eagle Lane near their residences. According to Mr. Sala, a six-foot section of the road is damaged and needs repaired. The road was paved by Mr. Sala 15 years ago at a cost of thousands of dollars, with the borough agreeing to take ownership of the road, according to Mr. Sala. Borough Solicitor Tim Berggren is reviewing records to determine ownership of the road before repairs can be considered.
