The New Eagle Borough Council announced at the December 3 monthly meeting that the 2020 budget will not require a tax increase for residents.

According to borough officials, this year’s switch to LED lighting and its resulting savings allowed the excess funds to be used in other needed areas of the budget. The budget was able to be balanced due to the utility bill savings and was passed last month.

In other business, a resident of 3rd Avenue addressed Council about a water issue at his house and his neighbor’s house. According to the resident, the borough failed to install drainage after a repair on his property, resulting in the current drainage problem. Council agreed to investigate the matter to determine a resolution.

Also at the meeting, Council announced the approval of a new monthly meeting day, which will be the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm.
