The South Park Board of Supervisors held their regular meeting on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. to discuss the following topics.

Out of the bids received on Feb. 2, for the project identified as the 2016 Restoration of Various Streets, Victor Paving and Construction was the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of $393,718.15.

The Township addressed the issue of cars being parked on the north and south sides of Stanley Street, which has made it difficult for drivers to see around the cars, making it hard to see oncoming traffic on the next road. “No Parking” signs will be placed on the north and south sides of Stanley Street.

South Park is purchasing a new police vehicle, a 2016 marked Ford Interceptor Utility Vehicle with warranty. The lowest bidder was Day Ford and the cost of the vehicle will be $27,820.

Adrien Weil has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the South Park Township Planning Commission and his term will expire the first Monday of 2017.

Bruce Beaver resigned from the Bethel Park Municipal Authority and Gerik Jenco was appointed with a term to expire the first Monday of 2019.

The PEG Channel Agreement between South Park Township and South Park School District, which outlines the terms and conditions for access by South Park School District to public, educational or governmental channels (PEG Channels) as provided under the franchise agreements the Township currently has with Comcast and Verizon, was approved.

The snow removal agreement between South Park and Brian Homes Inc., which provides for winter maintenance services to the major subdivision identified as Saddlebrook Farms Phase IV, by Township Public Works, was approved.

There will be a public nuisance hearing to determine if the property located at 3114 Southern Dr. should be declared a public nuisance. The hearing will be held on March 14 at 6:45 p.m.

Code Enforcement Officer, Gary Wargo, is scheduled to attend a training session entitled, “IRC 102 – Residential Building Code, Plan Review,” which will be held in Monroeville on March 9, at a cost to the Township of $125.00.

The bid opening for the project identified as the 2016 Sanitary Sewer Program has been rescheduled. The original date was Feb. 2 at 10:00 a.m. and the rescheduled date is March 10 at 10:00 a.m.

South Park Supervisors, David Buchewicz and Edward Snee will both be attending the 43rd Annual Conference for the Allegheny League of Municipalities, scheduled for April 7-10, held at Seven Springs, at a cost of $988.00 each.

Several members of South Park’s police force will be attending the following trainings: “Insurance Fraud Investigation,” Crisis Management and Interview, Interrogation and Statement Analysis,” “Human Trafficking,” and “SFST Refresher.” All trainings are at no cost to the Township.
