At their October meeting, the Old Trails BPW recognized three students in the field of music from local high schools or who attend Mon Valley Career and Technical Center.

Emily LaCarte, daughter of Mike and Susan LaCarte, is a senior at Charleroi High. She is on the varsity soccer team, president of the National Honor Society, vice president of the senior class, captain of the drumline, and is a member of the 2017 PA Lions All-State Band and 2017 District Band. She plans to pursue a degree in business at Penn State or Virginia Tech.
Marissa Filby, daughter of Jeff and Linda Filby, is also a senior at Charleroi High and attends Mon Valley CTC. She is involved with horses and competes in barrel racing. At Mon Valley CTC she is on the Bot IQ Team as team captain. Over the summer, she went to PFEW and future Docs of Medical Leaders. Marissa plans to obtain a degree in forensics and later a pre-medical degree to become a forensic pathologist.
Brandon Paul, a senior at Beth Center High, is the son of Ronald and Miryam Paul. He has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He is the drum major for the marching band and a member of the Leo Club. Brandon is also involved in martial arts (hapkido). He plans to serve a mission for two years for the LDS Church and attend Brigham Young University, majoring in either business or engineering.
