Two Charleroi Area High School Students, Phoebe Jade Wentzell and Karlen Brovey were recently selected as “Girls of the Month’ by the Charthene Club.

The September ‘Girl of the Month’
is a highest honor roll student and a senior at Charleroi Area High School where she was inducted into the National Honor Society and received the Challenge Program Award for STEM. She is the Captain of the softball team and participates in volleyball. Phoebe is on the Executive and Yearbook Committees. She also participates in Students Against Destructive Decisions, Foreign Language Club, Drafting Club, Powder Puff Football, Relay for Life, Interact and Stem Club.
Phoebe’s community involvement includes, Charleroi Day of Hope, 21st Century Program, Camp Invention and Peer-tutoring. She is the daughter of Michael and Lisa Dulac of Charleroi. Her future plans are to attend Penn State University to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.

The October “Girl of the Month’ Karlen Brovey is a highest honor roll student and a senior at Charleroi Area High School, where she was inducted into the National Honor Society and has maintained perfect attendance throughout all of her high school years. Karlen is the Co-Captain of the Color Guard, President of the World Language Club and Treasurer of the STEM Club. She participates in REACH, Academic League, Band, InterACT, SADD, Executive Committee, Bible Club, Relay for Life and Yearbook Committee. Karlen has also attended camps at the University of Toledo.
Karlen’s community involvement includes volunteering at Monongahela Valley Hospital in the Occupational Therapy and Lab Departments. She serves at Mary, Mother of the Church at Sunday Mass, helping with dinners and assisted in gardening and repaving of the parking lot. She has also helped set up and serve refreshments at the Little Great Race.
Karlen is the daughter of Mary and Jason Brovey of Charleroi. Her future plans are to attend the University of Toledo to pursue a Doctorate of Pharmacy. She hopes to work in a pharmaceutical compounding lab.
