Family, Youth, and Teen Programs

PJ FAMILY STORY TIME – I LOVE YOU MOM:  Monday, May 2 at 7 p.m. Mother’s Day is almost here. Let’s show Mom how much you love her with stories, songs, games, crafts, and a delicious snack. Wear your PJs and bring a stuffed friend to join in the fun. Family program. Please register.

 

EVENING BABY BOOK NOOK: Tuesday, May 3 at 7 p.m. Join Miss Terry on the first Tuesday of every month in the evening for nursery and action rhymes, songs, books, and so much more. For children ages birth to 2 years old, with a caregiver. No registration necessary.

 

STUFFED ANIMAL SLEEPOVER: DROP-OFF: Friday, May 13 anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. PICK-UP BRUNCH STORYTIME: Saturday, May 14 at 11:30 a.m. Do you every wonder what your stuffed animals get up to when you’re asleep? Drop your stuffed friends off during normal operating hours on Friday and come back Saturday to see what kind of mischief they got into. We’ll celebrate the reunion with stories, songs, crafts, and snacks. A $2 donation per child is requested. Family program. Please register.

 

TACO TUESDAYS: TEEN BOOK DISCUSSION: Tuesday, May 17 at 6 p.m. Join Miss Terry for lively discussion and delicious snacks. Request this month’s selection at the circulation desk. For students in grades 6—12. Please register.

 

ANIME CLUB: Thursday, May 19 at 3:30 p.m. Do you enjoy anime and manga? Come talk with fellow fans, watch some anime, try some Japanese snacks, and learn about new and interesting titles. For teens in grades 6 – 12. No registration necessary.

 

MAD HATTER’S WONDERLAND TEA PARTY: Monday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. Children and grown-ups of all ages are invited to put on their best or silliest hat for a wonderful tea party in the library. We’ll sample various teas, enjoy dainty snacks, play a silly game or two, and make a fun craft. A $5 donation per person is requested and will be collected at the event. All ages program. Please register.

 

Adult Programs

Murder and Mayhem Mystery Book Club will meet Monday, May 2 from 1 to 2 p.m. to review and discuss this month’s selection, The Boy in the Suitcase, by authors Lene Kaaberbol and Agnete Friis.  Newcomers welcome.  Not only justice but a “killer” dessert will be served.  Copies of the book are currently available at the front desk.

Group Ukulele Lessons will take place on the following Thursdays in May - May 5, May 12 and May 19 from 1 - 3 p.m.  Peggy Krall is a wonderful instructor.  All levels of Ukulele expertise is welcome.   Bring your own Ukulele and get ready to have some fun!

Spring Wise Walk - walking program will continue every Wednesday until June 8.  Our group will meet at the Children’s Playground parking lot in South Park at 9:30 a.m. and walk along Corrigan Drive.  Walk at your own pace.  Call the Library for more details. Registration requested.

Evening Book Group will gather on Monday, May 16 at 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. to exchange thoughts and discuss the book Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb: A Novel by Melanie Benjamin.  This book is for anyone who loves historical novels.  Request a copy of this book at the front desk today!

Save the Date! 

Our summer reading kick-off celebration is Saturday, June 4 from 1 to 3 p.m.  We will be at the Pleasant Kingdom playground to kick off our Summer Reading Program.  There is a program for every age and reading ability. Please register by calling 412-655-2424!
