School News

Several Thomas Jefferson High School students were recognized at the November 13, 2018 School Board meeting for their exceptional academic, athletic and extracurricular achievements.

Several TJ High School Students recognized for their achievements at the November School Board meeting.

Principal Pete Murphy introduced each student and spoke about their amazing efforts.   All of the high school students were awarded special certificates for their outstanding accomplishments.

Extra Effort Awardees

Three TJ students earned the Extra Effort Award at Steel Center for Career & Technical Education for the first quarter of the school year! Extra Effort Award recipients are chosen by shop instructors each quarter for their demonstration of outstanding attitude, work ethics, attendance and dependability.

Golfing Success

T.J. Golfers, Noah Pierce and Kelsey Wagner advanced to the WPIAL Championship Competition this past October.

Basketball Scholarship

T.J. senior, Jenna Clark, was awarded a scholarship to Yale University to play basketball for the Yale Bull Dogs.

Air Force Academy

T.J. senior, Alaynna Lynch, enlisted in the Air Force and will further her academic career at the United States Air Force Academy!

Artistic Talents

Kirk Salopek, Art Teacher and Department Coordinator, and students in his Drawing Class were recognized for their artistic talents and recent project that they worked on for Primanti Bros Restaurant in Pleasant Hills. Mr. Salopek’s Drawing Class created four large sports-themed murals for the restaurant and his students spoke about the parameters of the project, the quick turnaround time, and the obstacles they had to overcome during the design and installation.
